Bellwether League, Inc.Remembering Sara Mobley, Bellwether Class of 2009

SCHAUMBURG, IL – With sadness and sorrow, Bellwether League Inc. announces the death of Sara Mobley, Bellwether Class of 2009.
Mobley’s family and close friends reported that she died on February 20 after falling and never regaining consciousness during a weekend trip to Myrtle Beach, SC. Mobley’s health had been declining.
With only a high school education, Mobley began her healthcare career as a clerk typist for Orlando Health in 1949, leaving there nearly three decades later as Corporate Director of Materials Management, to join Winter Park (FL) Memorial Hospital in a similar role. She retired from Winter Park 14 years later as Vice President.
“Sara was a supply chain professional that I respected throughout my career,” said Jamie Kowalski, Co-Founder and Founding Board Chairman (2007-2013), Bellwether League Inc., “She was also a warm and sharing person who I liked a lot. She will be missed.”
Rick Barlow, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Bellwether League Inc., echoed Kowalski’s sentiments. “Sara provided the industry and Bellwether League with one of those unique real-life stories that readily could be translated into reel-life stories,” he said. “She emerged from deep within an organization to advance to leadership roles, leaving her areas better off than they were before her arrival. She was a class act and a mentor to many.”
Family and friends remembered her as an “elegant and classy lady who will be dearly missed.” Specifically, one friend called her “that special person, unique to the South – a combination of gracious manners, sharp mind and wicked sense of humor.” Another recalled that “she always read the Bible before going to bed.”
Mobley is predeceased by her parents, her brother Ray Green, and her husband Leonard Mobley. She is survived by two sisters, Lois Bernard, Orlando, and Lee Murtha of Zellwood, FL. She was also a devoted and loving aunt to seven nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Mobley also is survived by special companion and travel partner Garth Walker.
A memorial service was held at Park Lake Presbyterian Church on March 8.
