Bellwether League Board Member Earns AHRMM's 2010 Leadership Award
CHICAGO, August 17, 2010 The Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) has named Jean Sargent, CMRP, FAHRMM, Director of Supply Chain for the University of Southern California as the recipient of the 2010 George R. Gossett Leadership Award.
The George R. Gossett Leadership Award is the association’s highest honor and is bestowed upon individuals who, like Gossett, have distinguished themselves in their dedication to the educational and professional development of the healthcare supply chain and in elevating the status of this discipline.
As the president of AHRMM in 2007, Sargent demonstrated strong leadership qualities and unyielding commitment to the profession, association, and its members. She directed her efforts toward elevating the healthcare supply chain to leadership levels within hospital and integrated delivery network structures and became a strong advocate of data standards. Among Sargent’s many accomplishments was the overhaul of the strategic plan and establishment of the fundamentals that later became AHRMM’s current strategy map.
Today, Sargent continues being a strong advocate of the data standards for the healthcare supply chain. She sits on the leadership teams of GS1 Healthcare US and GS1 Healthcare Global, in addition to being active in several organizations working to advance excellence and improve patient care and safety throughout the healthcare supply chain. Sargent frequents GS1 workgroup meetings, presents at educational seminars, and hosts webinars to educate healthcare supply chain professionals about the benefits of data standards.
Former AHRMM president Bob Perry noted, “Jean has held several leadership positions in standards organizations over the past four years and personifies the commitment AHRMM has made to this movement. She has brought her hospitals into the process and is a clear example of walking the walk, not just talking the talk. She has taken a leadership position not only in AHRMM, but also in our Supply Chain Industry to better our profession and safeguard our patients.”
According to Jay Kirkpatrick, AHRMM’s immediate past president, “Jean Sargent has demonstrated leadership, advocacy, and commitment to both AHRMM and the healthcare supply chain. She has set a standard all AHRMM leadership should strive to emulate.”
Sargent received the award at AHRMM’s Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado last week. For more information, please visit www.ahrmm.org.
